WICHITA, Kan. — Several top-tier performances led Hutchinson High School to the Class 6A Men’s State Championship. The 4 x 800 Meter Relay team took home gold, while Hunter DeGarmo brought home the silver in the discus and a 4th place finish in shot put. As a team, the Salthawks tallied 65 points to outscore second place Manhattan by 15.
The HHS women finished 3rd in state with 57 points behind Junction City (68) and Olathe Northwest (66). The Salthawks captured gold in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay. Yazmine Wright won silver in the 400 Meter Dash and bronze in the 800. Teammate Janeia Wren brought home bronze in the 100 Hurdles and 4th in the 300 Hurdles, while Morgan Armbrust won bronze in that event.
