Main St., crossing to be replaced this year

It’s easily one of the worst railroad crossings in Hutchinson, but its going to have some major work done sometime this year.

In a follow up to a story from earlier this week, BNSF spokesperson Andy Williams told Eagle Media Friday morning that they will renovate the Main St., crossings this summer. The crossing is one of several along the BNSF that needs replaced. Williams says two others in the downtown area are slated for replacement next year.

The railroad and the city will share in the cost of the project which can run from 30 to 40-thousand dollars per crossing. BNSF replaced two crossings last year at Monroe and Adams.
