HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A highway through Reno County will be getting a facelift starting next week.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will begin construction of a 23-mile asphalt mill and overlay surfacing project on U.S. 50 Highway in Edwards County, beginning at the west city limits of Kinsley east to the Edwards/Stafford County line.

Traffic through this work zone will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. With both lanes being affected, drivers can expect delays of less than 15 minutes. The work area will move daily and work will be underway during daylight hours only. All loads over 12 feet of total width should seek alternative routes. This preservation project is scheduled to be completed in October, depending on delays caused by adverse weather conditions.

APAC Kansas Inc. Shears Division from Hutchinson is the prime contractor for this $5,858,000 project, which is funded by T-WORKS, the transportation program passed by the Kansas Legislature.
