Kansas traffic fatalities ahead of 2016 pace

TOPEKA, Kan. — As of July 3, deaths from traffic crashes in Kansas stood at 210 out of 184 days of 2017, which is higher than this time last year.

A variety of factors play a role in these fatalities, according to AAA Kansas, but distracted driving, driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, excessive speed and failure to use seat belts are major contributors.
