Gas prices on the rise

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Gas prices continue to increase as high demand is driving up prices. In Hutchinson, gas is running $2.03 to $2.05 a gallon. There is still gas for just under $2 with Love’s in South Hutchinson at $1.99. In Kansas, gas prices this week jumped five cents to an average of $2.10 per gallon, marking the 7th-largest increase in America, AAA Kansas spokesman Shawn Steward said.

Despite the rise in average gas prices in Kansas, there are still bargains to be had. Motorists in 40 Kansas communities are enjoying average prices of $2 per gallon or less. Last week, 94 communities registered $2 or less prices. Kansas’ average gas price is 12th lowest in the nation.

The national average for a gallon of gas is $2.25.
