HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 42-year-old man faces some serious charges in a domestic case where the victim was badly injured.

James Clinton Abraham faces potential charges of stalking, aggravated battery, aggravated intimidation of a witness and violation of a protection from stalking order.

The victim was apparently walking on Keast Street Sunday afternoon when she was knocked to the ground by Abraham. He then reportedly battered her, causing numerous injuries, including a possible fractured jaw. The victim was taken to Hutchinson Regional for treatment.

In court, Abraham denied he was even in Hutchinson and claimed he hasn’t had contact with the victim for a year. He claims the victim is lying in this case and a case in Sedgwick County where he faces trial. He wanted a bond reduction because of that trial scheduled to start Monday. That was denied by Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen and left at $32,500.

He’ll be back in court next week to see if the state has filed formal charges.
