This is the marijuana shown to the media Tuesday in the basement of the Law Enforcement Center in Hutchinson.

A 40-year-old Hutchinson man with a previous history surrounding drugs is jailed on a 150-thousand dollar bond charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of cocaine.

The Reno County Drug unit served a search warrant on the vehicle that Edmund Cantu of 116 South Jackson was driving early Monday morning, this in the 1100 block of U-S 50 Highway. Inside the 2012 Saburu Outback included three bags of approximately 130-pounds of marijuana, individually package in one pound brick form. Each was wrapped in balloons, then wrapped in plastic tape. Also, on the center console of the vehicle, in a cup was a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.

Cantu was arrested on the two charges and made a first appearance Tuesday where he requested a reduction of his initial 75-thousand dollar bond, but the state argued for any increase in the bond to 200-hundred thousand dollars because of the shear amount of pot, and Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen agreed it needed to be raised but declined the 200-hundred thousand dollars and set it at 150-thousand.

Drug Unit detectives say that a pound of marijuana sold on the street could go for as much as 700 to 900-dollars.

Cantu will be back in court of Wednesday March 7, for a status hearing.

He has a previous felony conviction for drugs that goes back to 2000, and was on community corrections until 2008.
