RENO COUNTY — A 19-year-old woman involved in a minor injury accident on Saturday ended up being arrested.
It happened early Saturday when Reno County Sheriff’s deputies were called out to the U.S. 50 overpass near the intersection of U.S. 50 and Longview.
The Burlington Northern Railroad Company reported a damaged vehicle near the train tracks.
When deputies arrived, they found that Liliana Ayala-Varela had been involved in a single-vehicle accident. She claims she had blacked out when she entered the construction zone. She struck several traffic cones before striking the guardrail. The vehicle rolled off the embankment and ended up several feet from the tracks. Liliana received several abrasions from her seat belt. She suffered no other injuries and declined treatment.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that alcohol may have been a contributing factor. It was also determined that the accident occurred sometime around 10:00 Friday night. She was cited for refusal of a preliminary breath test and was arrested for interference with law enforcement, no proof of insurance, and failing to report the accident.
