
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The unemployment numbers released Friday by the Kansas Department of Labor show an improvement in the September numbers over those in August.
The rate for Hutchinson is at 3.8 percent, down from 4.8 percent in both August of this year and September of last year.
The rate for Reno County also saw a decline last month with the rate set at 3.7 percent last month compared with the 4.6 percent rate in August.
There were 1,115 residents in Reno County without work last month with 731 of those in the city of Hutchinson.
All of the surrounding counties also saw declines in their rates last month.
For the state, preliminary estimates reported by the Kansas Department of Labor and Bureau of Labor Statistics show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.8 percent in September, down from 3.9 percent in August and down from 4.3 percent in September 2016.
