Pretty Prairie woman busted for cultivation of marijuana

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 41-year-old Pretty Prairie woman was arrested on drug charges after she reported her vehicle stolen.

It happened around 6:45 p.m. Monday. Rachelle Dietz faces charges of possession of marijuana, cultivating marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia to cultivate marijuana and possession of other drug paraphernalia.

She reported her 2005 Ford Taurus stolen. Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found Reno County Firefighters working a small fire at the home. While going through the residence, officials discovered a growing operation and paraphernalia in the basement. Officials reportedly found five plants.

Fire officials believe that a fire at the home was intentionally set.

Her bond was lowered to $10,000 after she made a first court appearance Tuesday. She blamed the fire on her ex-boyfriend, Eric Pierce, who is facing charges in earlier cases.

She’ll be back in court next week to see of the state has filed formal charges.
