WASHINGTON, D.C. — Amtrak posted record ridership, revenue and earnings for its Fiscal Year, which ended Sept. 30, 2017, according to the company’s release.

Ridership increased overall by 1.5 percent to 31.7 million passengers. Revenue increased 1.1 percent over FY 2016 to $3.2 billion and operating earnings totaled $194 million, an increase of 15.7 percent over FY 2016.

Amtrak’s long-distance trains, which include the Southwest Chief, increased ridership only slightly at 1 percent to 4.6 million riders.

The numbers for the Southwest Chief saw ridership fall by four-tenths of one percent, from 365,000 last year to 363,000 this year.
