NEWTON, Kan. — Fire and EMS crews responded to a structure fire in an apartment complex in the 1200 block of East Broadway Thursday evening in Newton.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from doors and windows of a ground-floor apartment with flames threatening an upper-story apartment. Firefighters were able to quickly get water on the fire, containing the damage to a single apartment.

One patient was treated and released at the scene. The fire is currently under investigation.
