HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Just before 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, the Hutchinson Fire Department responded to 1625 E. 4th Street for a report of a camper and shed on fire.
Initial arriving units quickly confirmed a fully-involved pull-behind camper and shed totally involved with one exposure approximately 20 feet away. One woman was quickly assessed by HFD and re-evaluated by Reno County EMS for singed hair and inhalation of super-heated air. The individual refused transport.
Crews worked quickly to contain the fire to avoid exposure concerns.
The cause of the fire was an unattended burn pit that spread to the shed and camper.
