HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 27-year-old man who has been on community corrections in four cases will be heading to prison for violating those corrections. After being ordered to prison by the judge, Christopher Maberry ran from the courtroom. He was caught after discovering the doors in the Law Enforcement Center were locked.

Maberry was on corrections for burglary, two convictions for theft, three counts of making false writing and obstruction. The cases go back to 2013, 2014 and 2015.

He’ll now face a new felony charge of aggravated escape from custody after being caught by a Reno County Sheriff’s Deputy. 

He was chased down the long hallway from the Reno County Courthouse to the Law Enforcement Center. He put his hands up when he discovered the doors were locked. Maberry told the sheriff’s deputy, who was right behind him, that he was sorry. He was then placed in cuffs and taken to jail.

He should make a court appearance on the new charge next week.
