HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 24-year-old man was arrested Monday after he was spotted in a purple pickup and police knew he had a warrant.

Once stopped, officers placed Adam Owston in custody and did a search. They discovered he had a fully-loaded Smith & Wesson handgun with one bullet in the chamber. They also found him in possession of brass knuckles, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

In court, he was told of potential charges including felony possession of a firearm, criminal use of a weapon, as well as the drug charges.

Owston was also read charges including distribution of heroin and using a communications device to make a drug transaction. This case goes back to Nov. 27, 2017.

He has prior drug and theft convictions for cases going back to 2014 and 2015.

Bond for the two cases total $33,500. He’ll be back in court next week for the latest arrest, while the distribution case moves to a waiver-status docket.
