HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Faris Elementary School in Hutchinson has taken the Great Kindness Challenge in 2017-18 and will celebrate Kindness Week Jan. 22 through 26.

Each day of the week, a special spirit event with a dress-up day will be held. The entire week culminates in a community tunnel for all students before the first bell on Jan. 26 at the school.

During the week, Faris students are asked to bring loose change to raise funds for hurricane relief in Texas. Each classroom will gather donations for the fundraiser.

The Great Kindness Challenge is a proactive and positive bullying prevention program, designed to improve school climate. During the week, students will be encouraged to perform as many acts of kindness as they can. In 2017, the international program involved 10 million students in 15,000 schools. Those students committed more than 500 million acts of kindness.
