Still no definite cause for Downtown fire that destroyed a Hutchinson radio groups studios.

Still no definite cause of a fire that destroyed the studios and offices of Ad Astra Broadcasting in downtown Hutchinson on Friday. Hutchinson Fire Chief Kim Forbes says State Fire Marshals officials are in town looking over items that fire officials pulled from the building prior to it being torn down.

They’re still concerned about a dumpster that was on fire behind the building and also the fact that some jail like doors in the rear of the building that block the back door was open and the actual back door burned away, with Forbes saying there was a low point of origin, which he says you don’t usually see at a fire.

As we told you last week. They’re still trying to determine if the dumpster fire was started before the fire in the building or as a result of the fire.

The stations knocked off the air include KSKU, KXKU, KNZS and KWHK.

Forbes says at this point, calling the fire suspicious would be a fair statement.

As for the station, they’re now working on getting a temporary studio set-up so they can get the local stations on the air as quickly as possible. They do plan to rebuild at the same location.
