Hutch woman hospitalized after falling asleep at the wheel

MCPHERSON COUNTY – One person was injured in an accident just before 7a.m. Monday in McPherson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a car driven by 62-year-old Nellie B. Purdue, of Hutchinson, was southbound on Kansas 61, two miles northeast of Inman.

The driver stated that she dozed off and the vehicle rear-ended a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Jamesha Sanders, Fort Worth, Texas.

Purdue was transported to the hospital in Hutchinson.
Sanders and four teens in the Chevy were not injured. All six were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
