A Hutchinson educator has been named middle school athletic director of the year by the Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.

Kevin Armstrong, in his seventh year with USD 308 and Hutchinson Middle School, was nominated by his peers from across Kansas. The nomination was reviewed by the past presidents’ council of the KIAAA.

Armstrong serves as assistant activities director for Hutchinson Public Schools.

A graduate of Liberal High School, Dodge City Community College and Bethany College, Armstrong has been in education for 20 years.

In addition to working with activities and athletics in Hutchinson, Armstrong has been an educator in Warrensburg, Mo., and Amarillo, Texas.
