Buhler City Council votes down zoning request for Dollar General

BUHLER, Kan. — The Buhler City Council Tuesday decided against rezoning a 2.3-acre site for a Dollar General store.

The vote was 5-0 against the proposal for the store at 69th & Buhler Road even though the planning commission voted in favor.

Many in the community felt Dollar General would hurt the local grocery store. Others contended a new store would mean new property tax with the city benefitting from much needed sales tax.

The commission voted to support the local grocery store and voted unanimously against zoning for the Dollar General Store.
