HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County fell in its overall health ranking. Reno County ranked 77th out of 103 Kansas counties, which is a drop from 64th last year.
Dr. Gianfranco Pezzino with the Kansas Health Institute says its drop is a continuing trend in the county that needs to be addressed:
Pezzino says that the ranking shows both a lack of opportunity for health choices and how we as individuals approach it:
Although the county slipped in access and availability in healthcare from 10th to 14th, the number is still good. But, as Pezzino suggests, a strong health care system often does not translate to overall good health in the county:
The county fell in every statistical category including health care factors, social and economic factors, and overall physical environment.
