WICHITA, Kan. — On Thursday, Devonte’ Graham was one point shy of the Intrust Bank Arena scoring record for a single game — he finished with 29 points.

Saturday night against Seton Hall, Graham mustered just 8 points on a 1 of 7 shooting night. Six of his points came from free throws. A few needed a little luck to drop. A fact teammate Malik Newman pointed out:

 

Newman picked up where Graham left off by scoring 28 points. He hit 4 of his 8 three-point attempts and knocked down all 8 of his free throw opportunities. Newman said he simply did for Graham what Graham had done for him early in the season:

 

Newman told Graham he should get down on his knees and be thankful for some of the good fortune he received:

 

Despite his cold 1 for 7 shooting night, Graham says his confidence is not shaken:

 

Once again, Udoka Azubuike did not start the game, however, he did start the second half. The 7-footer provided positive minutes in the first half when Mitch Lightfoot struggled to defend Angel Delgado. At the 16:09 mark, Delgado pulled down 1 of his 9 total offensive rebounds of the night and was fouled by Lightfoot on the putback.

Doke entered the game and made an immediate impact on the glass. He finished with 10 points and 7 rebounds. He shook the rim less than 2 minutes into his playing time off an oop from Svi Mykhailiuk.

Perhaps Azubuike’s biggest impact came on a collision with Devonte’ Graham. While setting a screen for Graham with 45 seconds left in the first half, Azubuike slammed right into Graham’s forehead. Trainers had to help Graham off the floor. While it seemed scary at the time, Graham finished the game and joked about the incident later.

Mitch Lightfoot was asked how healthy he thought Doke was:

 

Azubuike played 22 minutes after logging just three Thursday vs. Penn. Two offensive charges forced the big man to sit with four total fouls, otherwise the sophomore center would have likely played longer. However, he still did not feel 100 percent:

 

Angel Delgado had a monster game for the Pirates. The senior finished his career with a 20-20 game. Delgado scored 24 points and ripped down 23 rebounds.

Seton Hall finished the season 22-12.

Kansas is now 29-7 and will play next Friday in Omaha against the Clemson/Auburn winner.

Bill Self became the winningest NCAA Tournament coach in KU history. His 35th victory breaks the tie he had with Roy Williams after the first round victory against Penn.

The Jayhawks are now 6-0 all time in NCAA Tournament games played in Wichita.
