HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 35-year-old Nickerson man arrested for Tuesday’s early-morning stabbing made a first court appearance Wednesday via-video from the Reno County Correctional Facility.

Taylor Stuart is jailed on suspicion of one count of attempted second-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault. He’s suspected of stabbing 31-year-old Daniel Rivera II at a Hutchinson residence around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Rivera suffered numerous stab wounds to the head and neck and was transported to a Wichita hospital where he is currently in stable condition. According to statements made in court, an officer rode in the ambulance holding the victims head to keep him from losing too much blood.

The victim told investigators that he really didn’t know the suspect, meeting him through a mutual friend and only knew him as “T.”

Stuart is being held in the Reno County Correctional facility on a $105,000 bond and he’s expected back in court on April 4, for the formal reading of charges.
