Gas prices spring up

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Motorists continue to pay more at the gas pumps this spring.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Kansas is now $2.47, 3 cents more than one week ago and up 6 cents from a month ago.

Locally, the average price in Hutchinson is at $2.46 per gallon. In South Hutchinson, the price is as low as $2.39 per gallon, according to www.gasbuddy.com Wednesday afternoon.

This week’s Kansas gas price extremes are in Altoona in Coffey County at $2.90. The lowest is at Waverly in Wilson County at $2.21.

Gas prices are edging up across the country as the market continues to purge winter-blend gasoline to make room for summer storage. At $2.66, the national gas price average is 5 cents more expensive on the week and 11 cents more expensive than two weeks ago.
