HutchCC student arrested on marijuana distribution charge

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 19-year-old Hutchinson Community College student from Columbus, Georgia, was reportedly caught with a seller’s quantity of marijuana — as well as drug paraphernalia — within a thousand feet of a school.

Ravaughn D. Turner was jailed after Hutchinson Police were called to the men’s dorm at the college. A staff member smelled marijuana and alerted authorities. Police entered the dorm room and found two bags of suspected marijuana, two scales and two grinders. The dorm is within 401 feet of Graber Elementary School.

In court, he told the judge that the marijuana wasn’t for sale. He also asked to be released from jail so he could go back to school. Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen agreed to set bond at $10,000.

Turner will be back in court April 12.
