TOPEKA, Kan. — Ruth Wright of Kingman was already feeling lucky before she scratched off her $75,000 top prize on a $10 Tiger Pride instant scratch ticket. The first two tickets she scratched were winners as well. 

“I bought three tickets and the first one was a $15 win. So I moved on to the third ticket I bought since I never have two winners in a row!” Wright said. “The third ticket I bought turned out to be a $10 winner, so I just assumed the one in the middle wasn’t going to win anything.”

As it turns out, her assumptions were incorrect, and the middle ticket was a $75,000 top prize winner. “I couldn’t believe it when I scratched it off. I checked it myself several times, then took it to the register and had them check it for me as well. Everyone agreed it was a big winner!”

The winning ticket was sold at White’s Foodliner 1 in Kingman. Wright couldn’t wait to show her husband the ticket. Luckily, he was working just across the street at C5 Manufacturing in Kingman. “I literally ran across the highway to see him. It wasn’t the safest thing I’ve ever done, but I just couldn’t wait to show him,” Wright said. “It took about 10 minutes for him to realize that the ticket was real and we were big winners. I asked him to hold onto the ticket for me and then went back to work.”

She says they plan on using the winnings to pay bills and invest in a company. There are still two top prizes left on the $10 Tiger Pride instant scratch game.
