HUTCHINSON — Authorities are working to determine the cause of a Hutchinson house fire.

Just before 10p.m. Tuesday, the Hutchinson Fire Department Red Crew, responded to 9804 N. Lorraine Street for a fully involved two-story house on fire.

On arrival, first in crews found heavy fire conditions that had engulfed the entire two-story structure, according to a media release.

Due to the increasing winds that rapidly spread the fire, the roof and second story walls had collapsed in as crews were stretching the initial hose lines. Heavy embers sparked spot fires up to two hundred yards from the structure that stretched available resources thin. Due to the long narrow driveway, crews relayed water to the fire through approximately 1500 feet of hose.

No one was home at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported. Crews remained on scene throughout the night monitoring hotspots and to ensure that no additional brush fires started. Fire remains under investigation.

Hutchinson Fire Department was assisted the Buhler Fire Department, Fire District #3, Hutchinson Sheriff Department, Reno County EMS, Reno County Emergency Management, and Ark Valley Electric.
