HUTCHINSON, Kan. — On the day before the jury trial was scheduled to begin for a 34-year-old man charged with first-degree murder, Judge Tim Chambers agreed to a continuance.

Quinton Moore is accused of shooting 42-year-old Clarence D. Allen multiple times in his head and neck while Allen slept at a residence at 1701 E. 30th in Hutchinson.

During a hearing Monday morning, Judge Chambers agreed to the continuance after both sides made the request. The state told the judge it is still waiting on forensics from the KBI.

Meanwhile, the defense filed a number of motions last Friday. A hearing to argue those motions should come later in May.

Judge Chambers rescheduled the trial for July 24.

Moore remains jailed on a $500,000 bond.
