The trial for one of the two men suspected in a string of auto burglaries belonging to law enforcement, public officials and other private citizens is winding down, at least as far as the states case is concerned. Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell telling us he hasn’t officially rested in the case against 19-year-old Sheridan Kiraly, but will Friday morning.

Kiraly is charged with 17-counts of burglary stemming from his arrest, along with 21-year-old Victor Smith and 18-year-old Madison Smalling.

Kiraly along with Smith are accused of numerous burglaries which occurred in a period occurring from July 1, through July 3, of last year.

The state had their last witness on the stand Thursday afternoon, that being Police Sgt. Glen McMurray. He testified about the evidence seized not only from the Ford Explorer stopped by Officer James Wilson, but also from Smith, Smallings, and Michael Kirk. McMurray also told of finding footprints near his vehicle that were of a Nike shoe. He says its very similar to the shoes that Kiraly was wearing at the time of his arrest. They also were showing the jury a video of the interview McMurray did with Kiraly. It was also McMurray’s vehicle where Kiraly’s fingerprints were also allegedly found.

Again, the state is expected to rest their case Friday morning. Whether the defense will present any witnesses is still unknown.

Victor Smith’s case is still pending, while Smalling entered a plea and is currently on community corrections.

Kiraly is also accused in a second, separate case of battering a law enforcement officer.
