Third Thursday includes bike parade

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutch Rec says this month’s Third Thursday is called Celebrate Active Living and begins at 5:30 p.m. in the area of Walnut Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue B.

This month’s Third Thursday celebrates Bike Month with an all-ages Bike Parade, hosted by the Vitality Team of Reno County. All ages are welcome to join in this event. Participants can decorate their bike for a chance to win prizes from Sugartime Confections.

Participants are asked to meet at 5:30 p.m. at the parking lot of the Avenue B Fire Station (Ave B & Walnut) to line up. The parade will start at 6 p.m. with the Kansas Special Olympics Torch Run leading the way. The parade route starts at George Pyle Park and goes north on Walnut to 1st street, then turns around back to the park.

The public is also invited to bike down to Third Thursday, as Harley’s Bicycles is hosting a Bike Valet service. Individuals can safely park their bikes in the Avenue B fire station parking lot between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. as they enjoy activities and events going on along Walnut Street.
