Leavenworth County woman pleads no contest to Medicaid fraud

LEAVENWORTH – A 39-year-old Leavenworth woman today pled no contest to making false claims to the Kansas Medicaid program.

Yolanda Carter was recently extradited from Texas. Carter submitted timesheets indicating she had provided Personal Care Attendant services to her sister when her sister was actually in the hospital or long-term care facilities.

As part of the plea, she must pay restitution in the amount of $1,735.54 to the Kansas Medicaid Program. The plea was accepted by Judge Gunnar Sundby in Leavenworth County District Court, who then entered a finding of guilty. Sentencing is set for May 11 at 10 a.m.
