18 for Buddy golf tournament June 23

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — James “Buddy” Bryant was a senior at Haven High School when he lost his life in an accident in November of 2005. Since then, the Bryant family has hosted the James “Buddy” Bryant Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament.

The 13th annual tournament is set for June 23 at Carey Park. The tournament is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The event will feature hole prizes, a 50/50 drawing, raffle prizes and a meal provided by Hog Wild.

The cost is $75 per player or $300 per team. Carey Park members get a discount: $43 with their private cart and $57 without. The entry deadline is June 16.

To date, the Bryant family has handed out more than 200 scholarships, totaling more than $65,000 in their son’s memory. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must perform eight hours of community service in one of four designations.

For more information on obtaining a scholarship application, students should see their counselor, or call 620-665-7182.
