As part of the final phases of construction for the new alignment of K-61 highway in Reno County is completed, the most painful part of the construction for local motorist will also be included. Starting Monday, 30th St., will close from Halstead to where the new part of K-61 is being built.

K-61 highway will remain open to through traffic, and 30th Street from the east side of K-61 will have access to the highway to turn north or south, but 30th will not have through traffic across K-61.

The street closure is required for the construction of the new K-61 intersection at 30th. All other sections of 30th will be unaffected.

30th will remain closed between K-61 and Union Valley until June; while the existing concrete pavement is removed, earth work completed, and new concrete pavement is constructed.

When the construction of the west side of the 30th and K-61 intersection is completed and opened to traffic, then 30th on the east side will close between K-61 and Apple Lane, to accommodate construction activities in that area.

Already, traffic has been diverted because of 56th Street also being closed to build the on and off ramps from the highway, as well a re-doing a small portion of the road in that area. That has meant more traffic on 43rd and 30th. But, when 30th closes, that will mean more traffic on 17th & 43rd in the area of the highway.
