HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Cosmosphere will host a star observing party on Friday. The event begins at 9:30 p.m. in the museum’s south parking lot. Guests are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.

With clear skies, visitors should be able to see Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn. Mars will not be this close to Earth again until 2035.

It will also be one of the very few times so many planets are visible in one night. The Cosmosphere will be using its 16-inch diameter telescope to see Mars. Guests may bring their own telescopes as well.

If there is inclement weather Friday, Sky Watch will be rescheduled to Saturday, July 28, at 9:30 p.m.
