HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 33-year-old man who was released from the Kansas Department of Corrections in October of last year for a conviction of interference with law enforcement is now in more trouble.

John Oquenda Jr. has been charged by the state with burglary of a dwelling with the intent to steal a firearm. He is also accused of firearm theft and criminal possession of a firearm, that being a Taurus PT100 .40-caliber handgun. The crimes occurred on July 26.

Oquenda is no stranger to law enforcement, he has five convictions for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, theft and possession of drugs.

He remains jailed on a $17,000 bond.
