ROCK – The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the name of the 62-year-old Denton, Texas man found dead after his 2008 fixed wing single engine plane crashed in Cowley County.

According to the highway patrol report, Jerris Lynn Riffel was enroute to Junction City, from Texas when for a unknown reason, he was ejected from the plane causing it to crash.

The plane was discovered about 10:20 a-m Wednesday morning approximately 150-yards north of the intersection with 111th Rd, and 62 nd Rd, about 4-miles south and 2-miles east of Rock, Kansas.

Riffel’s body was found later according to officials in Cowley County.
