HUTCHINSON, Kan. — There are still some other numbers to put together, but the Salt City Splash pool
in Carey Park saw summer swim attendance remain nearly steady from the previous year.
According to Pool Manager Ted Nelson, total attendance was around 31,400 compared with 31,600 in 2017. Nelson says attendance for the past several years has stayed between 30,000 and 32,000. The figures do not include swim lessons and swim team activities.
Nelson says the Parks Department is looking at preliminary plans for some possible additions or modifications to the pool, which will celebrate its 20th season next year, in 2020. For a facility that is 20 years old, Nelson says it is in very good shape.
