AUGUSTA – A 61-year-old Pueblo, Colorado man was killed in a two vehicle accident in Butler County early Wednesday morning. Dead is Dee Duane Graham.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Graham was eastbound in his pickup on U-S 54 highway traveling at a slow rate of speed. Then another pickup driven by 42-year-old Darrin W. Champagne of Trinity, Texas struck the rear of Grahams pickup. That pushed him off the roadway to the north where his vehicle struck a row of trees.

Champagne then apparently left the scene, but was tracked down by the Highway Patrol. He was not injured. No word on whether any charges of citations were given to him from the accident.

It occurred at 54-highway and River Road just after 1 a-m Wednesday morning.
