TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Transportation Thursday approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects in Kansas.

Projects awarded contracts in our area include the following;

In Kingman and Reno counties, it includes K-14 from the west junction of U.S. 54 north to the Kingman-Reno county line, then from the Kingman-Reno county line north to the west junction of K-61. That includes milling and overlay for 16.7 miles. Lafarge North America, Inc. of Wichita won the project with a bid of, $2,081,958.23.

Others around the area included U-S 50 in Harvey County west of Walton east to the Harvey-Marion county line which included crack repair for 6.4 miles. Missouri Pavement Maintenance, Independence, Mo., had the low bid at $78,203.88.

In Stafford County, work will be done on U-S 281 from U-S 50 north to the K-19 junction, which includes seal work for 14 miles, Blevins Asphalt Construction Co., Inc., Mt. Vernon, Mo., won the bid at $498,377.63.

And, in Barton and Rice counties Work will be done on U-S 56 in Barton County from the east city limits of Ellinwood going east to the west city limits of Lyons, they will do crack repair. That includes 18.8 miles. Huff Sealing Corporation, Albion, Ill., received that bid contract for $89,183.80.

The letting was actually held March 21st, in Topeka, but just announced by K-DOT officials.
