TOPEKA – Kansas Governor Sam Brownback announced Thursday the appointment of Dale Rodman as a member of the Kansas Bioscience Authority (KBA). Rodman currently serves as the Kansas Secretary of Agriculture.

“Few people in the country have the unique qualifications for this position that Dale has,” Governor Brownback said. “His expertise and his willingness to take on further responsibilities speak volumes about his dedication to serving the people of Kansas. He will be an asset to the Bioscience Authority and to the state of Kansas.”

Rodman has nearly fifty years of agribusiness experience that includes national and international agriculture business development and management experience. After graduating from Kansas State University in 1963 with an agricultural degree in feed milling, Rodman worked for Cargill, Inc. a total of 37 years in various management positions in Kansas, across the country and around the world.

He also served as president of Tramco, Inc, a family-owned manufacturer of heavy duty, dry bulk conveying systems in Wichita, Kansas. In the 1990s, Rodman worked with then-Kansas Agriculture Commissioner Brownback to develop the value-added program and served as a board member of the Kansas Agricultural Value-Added Center. Rodman left retirement in 2011 at the request of Governor Brownback to serve the Kansas agricultural industry.

Rodman’s appointment must be confirmed by the Senate. He succeeds KBA board member Sandra Lawrence.

Governor Brownback also appointed Andrew D. Wimmer of Overland Park to the Board of Indigent Defense Services to succeed Roy Holliday; and re-appointed Robert Chestnut of Lawrence to the Pooled Money Investment Board. Both appointments require Senate confirmation.
