HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson USD 308 School Board will take action on the new collective bargaining agreement ratified by teachers Sept. 14.

Under the new agreement, teachers will receive, on average, a 5 percent pay increase with the base salary increasing from $37,501 to $ 38,550. The district will also increase its share of insurance costs by $30 and provide stipends for special education work.

The agreement comes much sooner than last year’s contract where the two sides were far apart well into the school year. The teachers finally ratified a new contract in January.

Also on Monday, the board will approve a contract with the Kansas Association of School Boards to begin the official search for a new superintendent.

Under the proposed contract, the KASB would be paid $6,250 plus actual expenses incurred. The KASB will train and work with a professional screening committee and collect applicant files for screening.

The board is looking to replace Dr. Shelly Kiblinger, who resigned over a year ago. Former Superintendent Dr. Gary Price has been leading the district in the interim.

Monday’s meeting of the Hutchinson USD 308 School Board begins at 6 p.m. in the school district offices at 1520 N. Plum.
