TOPEKA – Governor Sam Brownback Monday named a number of appointments of Kansas residents to various boards and state agencies.

One of those is Tom Tunnell, of Topeka, who the Governor renamed to the Kansas State Fair Board. He is the President of the Kansas Grain and Feed Association, a post he’s held since 1980. He also serves on the Board of Directors for The Fertilizer Institute, and attended Emporia State University and Wichita State University.

He has been a member of the Fair Board for the past 8-years, and is one of a 13 members of the board appointed by the Governor that makes decisions regarding issues surrounding that fair. This event in Hutchinson each September is considered the single biggest event each year and acts as the showcase of Kansas agriculture, commerce and industry. It also provides education, entertainment and the board presents a comprehensive format for the state fair.
