SALINA – Authorities are not sure if a call to EMS for an 18-month-old girl found not breathing is a medical issue or something else.

Medical crews were sent to the 600 block of Gypsum in Salina about 3:40 p-m, Monday afternoon to the report of a toddler not breathing.

The girl was taken to Salina Regional Health Center and then life watched to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and is stable condition in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Salina Police Lt. Scott Siemsen says the hospital will be conducting several test Tuesday to try to determine whether or not it’s a medical issue or a criminal case.

Siemsen says there were no outward signs of any trauma to the girl.

Siemsen added there would be no more information released until Wednesday, after the medical test have been concluded.
