Hutchinson man arrested for stealing a car locally

A 37-year-old Hutchinson man managed to get his bond lowered during a court appearance Tuesday from four thousand dollars to two thousand, after he was allegedly caught in a stolen vehicle.

Jason Byers made a first appearance on the charge of possession of stolen property, and felony theft. But, he was also allegedly in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest. That occuring in the 1200 block of East 4 th, just before 10 p-m Monday evening after a 23-year-old Hutchinson man, Davis L. Verrette reported his vehicle stolen.

Even though Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen lowered the bond for Byers to two-thousand dollars, he’s not going anywhere. He has a 40-thousand dollar bond and a hold for a burglary case out of Stafford County.

He should be back in court next Wednesday on the Reno County case or whenever the state files formal charges.
