HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The fire department will be holding a community Wet Down at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Fire Station 3, 100 E. Ave. E.

The ceremony will officially place the new fire truck into service. Truck 3 was recently delivered to Hutchinson and crews have been training this week on the new unit.

Officials will put the new truck in service and remove a 1998 aerial platform from service.

The ceremony includes the wet down, a blessing, a community push in and community truck drying. There will also be light refreshments served.

The public is invited.
