Anna Thorpe Zwanzig, 90, died October 10, 2018, in Hutchinson. Anna was born on April 25, 1928, in Compton, CA, to Henry and Martha Louise (Getchell) Zimmerman. She graduated from Compton High School in 1946 and was a Salvation Army member for 86 years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years.
She is survived by: daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Jost (Roger), League City, TX, Anna Marie Stevens, Hutchinson; stepdaughter Laura Zwanzig Ferreira; sister, Frances Magnuson; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: husbands, Joseph M. Thorpe and Ben D. Zwanzig; son, Richard Joseph Thorpe; grandsons, Chris Hood and Buster Machado; parents; brothers, George, Irwin , Fritz, Hietz, Thomas, Albert and Abraham Zimmerman; sisters, Chestina Baker, Elizabeth Bommer and Nita Hodgkiss.
There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on October 27, 2018, at the Hutchinson Salvation Army, 700 N. Walnut, Hutchinson, KS, followed by a fellowship dinner. Burial was held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA on October 18, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson, KS 67501.
