Opal M. Kroeker | 1923 – 2018 |

Opal Mae Kroeker, 94, died Sunday, October 28, 2018, in Hutchinson.  She was born December 5, 1923, to Leroy and Viola (Clune) Newburn in Hutchinson.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.  Opal was also a farmwife at Castleton, cook at South Hutchinson Sale Barn and a cake decorator.   She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

On June 7, 1942, she married Bueford Kroeker in Hutchinson.  He died May 15, 1993.

She is survived by: daughters, Dixie Kellums of Derby, Twila Spaeny and Mike, and Rita Black and Jerry Ricksecker, all of Hutchinson; sons, Nolan and Dana, Jerry and Anita, Merle and Gail, Rex and Tammie Kroeker and Cletis Kroeker, all of Hutchinson; sisters, Ruby Parks and Shirley Hauschild and Ken, both of  Hutchinson; former sister-in-law, Jean Ann McKay of Hutchinson; 29 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughter, Lila Kroeker; and son, Kenny Kroeker; brothers Lee and Helen Newburn and Don Newburn; sister, Ruth and Phil Parks; and brother-in-law, Stan Parks.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., November 3, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E 4th Ave, with Pastor Harold E. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.  Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to Cancer Council of Reno County or New Hope Baptist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
