Nickerson-South Hutchinson school district to hire officer

SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 309 School Board voted Monday night to move ahead with hiring a law enforcement officer.

District Superintendent Dr. Dawn Johnson says the district is looking to hire its own officer after discovering it was not feasible to use a sheriff’s deputy:

 

She says the district will now work to hire its own officer that will be certified:

 

She says there will be partnership agreements with Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson and South Hutchinson Police Chief Mark Thompson:

 

She says any certified officer will be eligible to apply, including Hutchinson police officers that were disciplined or discharged recently.

The person hired would have all the responsibilities and authority of any other certified officer in Kansas.
