HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A man who led law enforcement on a short chase earlier this year was in back in court Friday. Jeffrey Jones was again read the formal charges in a case where the state had dropped the charges, then refiled the case.

Jones is charged with four felonies including possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package, felony flee and elude with five or more moving violations and interference with law enforcement. He was also charged with two misdemeanors which included driving while suspended and personal use drug paraphernalia.

The case began back on May 24 when Jones refused to stop at a seat belt check lane at 3rd and Plum. Law enforcement gave chase until he stopped the vehicle on his own at F and Plum. He was also observed by police throwing numerous objects from the car during the pursuit, which were reported to be drugs and drug paraphernalia. The chase lasted about five minutes.

Jones managed to get his $15,000 bond lowered when he appeared Friday. Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen lowered it to $10,000.
