TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Labor has released the latest unemployment numbers for October.
The newest report shows Hutchinson with an unemployment rate of 3.3 percent last month down from the 3.4 percent in Sept. and matches the rate for Oct. of last year. Reno County also saw a slight dip in unemployment with a rate of 3 percent last month, down from 3.1 percent in Sept. and better than the rate of 3.2 percent in Oct. of last year.
According to the state, there were 921 county residents actively looking for work last month with most of those in Hutchinson.
Other counties saw mixed results with some seeing a slight decrease, while others saw a slight increase.
For the state of Kansas as a whole, the numbers show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.3 percent in Oct. This was unchanged from Sept. and down from 3.5 percent in Oct. 2017.
